Small business Internet marketing can seem like a labyrinth to a small business owner new to the term. There is so much information available–much of it conflicting–that it’s easy to get lost and begin to suffer from information overload.

Here are a few ways small business owners can get started marketing their business on line.

* Blogging – A blog is simply a website which is frequently updated. While blogs used to be considered more personal, and resembled on line diaries more than websites, recently businesses have been starting to blog as a way of staying in contact with their customers. Even better than that, Google loves a blog. The more you update your site, the more the Google bots will visit, and the more the Google bots visit, the better chance you have of getting your business’s site found.

* SEO – or search engine optimization, is a huge topic. SEO simply means setting up your site to be friendly to the search engines by giving them the information they need in the places they expect to find it. Using title tags and meta description tags, clearly defining your keywords, and getting other sites to link back to your site are all a part of basic Seo.

* Pay Per Click – Pay per click is a form of advertising where the advertiser(you) buys space through an auction style system, and only pays when someone clicks on their ad. The results that you see at the very top of a search results page in Google are often pay per click ads, as are the smaller (and more obvious) ads off to the right of the page. Pay per click is very efficient at driving traffic to your site, but can be risky as well. You’d do well to hire a specialist in this area rather than plunge in by yourself.

* Article marketing – Whether you’re in the business of selling flowers or washing machines, chances are you have knowledge that someone wants. By giving this knowledge away on sites like EzineArticles.com or GoArticles.com in exchange for a link or two back to your site, you can gain greater exposure for your business, and bring visitors in who would otherwise never have noticed you.

* Social Networking – Social networking is word of mouth advertising for the digital age. Instead of Aunt Suzy calling up Cousin Ida to ask who she hired to install the new windows, @AuntSuzy is posting questions about window installs on Twitter and Facebook. If your business is installing windows you’d be well advised to monitor those Twitter conversations. Help out @AuntSuzy with 140 characters of advice about choosing windows and who do you think she’ll be recommending to her friends when they need windows?

* Forum posting – Forums are just another form of social networking, except the conversation is generally more focused around a particular topic. No matter what business you’re in, there is a forum dedicated to it. Search Google for your topic Forum and you’ll find them. Get registered, start conversing, and as your reputation grows so will your business.

Small business internet marketing can seem to be a maze for those new to it. There is so much information available – a lot of it in conflict – so it’s easy to get lost and begin to suffer from information overload.

Because there are so many “claims” on the internet that this certain online business opportunity or that internet home business will make you your long awaited fortune, I often seek to provide my readers with proof that there really are legitimate business opportunities online in which real money can be made. Read the post on this blog from February 4th of this year and watch the video posted of a guy who started from scratch and in 7 months has made a legitimate online business opportunity an income producer for him and his family.

Right here I want to show you more as well. The check pictured below is a scanned copy of a real check earn by a guy who used to be a struggling restaurant worker. Click on it to view a larger clear version of it. As you can see, he has built a nice online income for himself that has come from persistence, patience, and yes, WORK. Real opportunities that offer a real chance to make real money do require some work to varying degrees. Turn and run from the ones that promise a huge payday with little or NO WORK.

Click the check above to view it.

TrafficSwarm is an excellent way to get more traffic to your website but obviously like Stone, there is a nice amount of money to be made with TrafficSwarm as well. If you are not using TrafficSwarm as one of the ways you generate more traffic to your website you are missing out on a lot of good traffic. There are people out there that promote their online business exclusively with TrafficSwarm and are making a full-time income working from home doing so.

I’ve mentioned this before and I will say it again, if you ever have a question about a particular business opportunity you are looking into as to it’s legitimacy or ability to make you a lifetime income, please write me and ask. I will happy to help you. The Work At Home For Dummies blog is dedicated to help all work from home entrepreneurs reach the success they are looking for no matter what business they are in and promoting. When looking for the best way to market your home business there are tons of possibilities. Of course some may end up costing you more than others. Whether you want to market yourself through the internet or through regular mail, there are certainly some methods of marketing that will be more cost-effective than others.

If you have just begun your home business it probably isn’t reasonable to expect to advertise yourself on a local billboard. However, it’s most certainly reasonable to post an advertisement in your local newspaper, print flyers, mail postcards, or advertise perhaps in places that you might not initially think of like your church bulletin. You could also post links to your website on certain forums online or if you’ll look you can find really good free classified advertising avenues to start getting the word out. Of course, they best kind of free advertising is through word-of-mouth.

Most forms of marketing have costs that range from relatively small to some that can be rather expensive. Printing fliers can be fairly low cost, but you must account for the cost of your paper and printer cartridges as you go through them.. Postcards are a very nice and effective way to advertise, but of course you have the cost of the cards first and then the postage. People love getting postcards though and they are almost always read, so you know your message is getting in front of those valuable eyes you are after. Posting an ad in a newspaper or bulletin will cost you for the ad space and even online, some sites will charge you to post your ad.

Depending on how much you are willing to pay for advertising, your sources for marketing may be limited. However, it is important to try multiple methods of advertising before deciding on the first one that shows a return. It is important to remember that if the return you are earning from an ad is not enough to pay for the cost of the ad itself, then cut it from your campaign immediately. One way to determine whether or not one of your methods of marketing is profitable is to survey your customers. When they go to make their purchase, have a way for them to respond to the question of how they heard about you. Knowing where your best return is coming from is crucial to your advertising success. Initially, the best strategy is to test, test, test. Test each advertising method and increase those that show the best return while eliminating those that are just costing you time and money. The money you save from eliminating the non-productive methods can then be reallocated to marketing strategies that you know are working well.

It will take some time to find the best marketing solution for your home business. Ultimately the best return may come from a combination of methods, so it is very important never to limit yourself to a single avenue for advertising. You will constantly be searching for the best solution that brings in the most revenue at the lowest cost.

So to answer the question of whether to pay or not to pay for advertising, the answer is a resounding BOTH. Pay AND don’t pay. :-) Paying for quality advertising really is a must, although it does not have to be expensive. On the other hand, there are numerous ways to get your message out that cost nothing or next to it.

How To Protect Your Identity And Your Online Home Business
http://www.ChooseHomeWork.com
http://www.WorkAtHomeForDummies.com

Starting a home-based internet business is the dream of many would-be entrpreneurs across the globe. Every single day countless numbers of these people are turning their dream into a reality. The more you put yourself out there on the internet in many aspect, the issue of identity theft is a growing concern.

Operating an online business requires many hours on your computer doing the things necessary to build your business. As a result you can sometimes open yourself up to privacy issues. Here are 11 of the best ways you can lower your risk of becoming a victim of identity theft. At the end of this article, step number 11 is fast becoming THE preferred way for people to secure the themselves.

An identity thief takes your personal information and uses it without your knowledge. The thief may run up debts or even commit crimes in your name. Take these steps to help insure yourself against this crime of our times.

Number One: Protect your Social Security Number

If you do, stop carrying your Social Security Card in your wallet. If a company you do business with wants to use your SS# as your account number or id number, ask them to use another number. Protecting your Social Security number is the key to controlling identity theft.

Number 2: Don’t let your identity get trashed

Own a paper/document shredder as part of your business. Shred or tear up papers with your personal information on them before you throw them away. Shred credit card offers and other mail you receive that might have your personal private information on them.

Number 3: Use caution when clicking around the Internet

Before entering credit card or other personal information on any web site(especially if you are new to it), read their privacy policy. See what your options are to opt out of sharing your information. IF there is no privacy policy posted, BEWARE!. Do business somewhere else. When you do enter personal information, enter it on secure web pages with “https” in the address bar and a padlock symbol at the bottom of your browser. These signs indicate protection from hackers.

Number 4: Beware of “Phishing”!

Scam artists disguise themselves as legitimate businesses that you do business with everyday like your bank, stores, eBay, Paypal, government agencies and such. Tactics include phone calls, emails, regular mail, and others asking you to verify personal information like account numbers and passwords. Don’t respond unless you initiated the contact with that company by calling them. If they called you, ask them if you can call them back. Additionally, legitimate companies do not ask for this sort of information in these ways.

Number 5: Keep control of your personal financial information

Limit wheenver you can, the sharing of your information between companies and/or their affiliates.

Number 6: Opt-out of pre-approved credit card offers

Many pre-approved credit card offers are simply ploys to make your information an easy target to gather.

Number 7: Check your bills and statements

Open your bills and statements. Reconcile right away and look carefully for any unauthorized charges or withdrawals. If you miss receiving these in the mail one month, call to find out why in case anyone stole them from your mailbox or have changed your contact information.

Number 8: Protect your computer

Computer viruses and spyware can compromise your privacy. Use the appropriate security software. Make your passwords difficult for others to guess. DO NOT click on links in spam email.

Number 9: Make a regular check of your credit report

This is one of the best ways to protect yourself. Monitor your credit history. You can get a FREE credit report every year from each of the three national credit bureaus.

Number 10: Ask Questions

Whenever information is requested from you that seems inappropriate for the transaction you are making, ask why. Ask how the information is going to be used and if it will be shared. Move on if you feel the answers are unsatisfactory.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America. It’s makes sense to take steps to protect yourself when you are an online business owner spending so much time on the internet.

Number 11: Use Lifelock

A great way to protect your good name and your identity from being stolen is with a company called Lifelock. As part of their service to protect your identity from being stolen, they offer a One Million Dollar Service Guarantee. Quite simply, using Lifelock is absolutely the best way to protect yourself from identity theft BEFORE it happens.

Get all the details at http://www.lifelock.com .

If you decide to take this important step toward protecting your identity and good name, here’s how you can save a little money on Lifelock’s already low service pricing. At the appropriate point when prompted for a “PROMO CODE”, enter the promo code LOCKSAFE. By entering “locksafe”, you’ll receive a 10% service discount from Lifelock that I have negotiated for all my readers.

Identity theft can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere. It can happen online or offline. Simple logical steps like those listed above can protect your good name. It’s simply important to properly protect your reputation and the reputation of your business online and off.

A Home Based Online Business – The Cost Of Doing Business
http://www.ChooseHomeWork.com
http://www.WorkAtHomeForDummies.com

It amazes me sometimes when I consider the number of people who desire to start a home based online business and are yet so resistant to the fact that there may be some upfront costs to doing business.

Consider this…Anytime a person buys a franchise for instance. Let’s say it’s a McDonald’s. One has to know that in this case there is a lot of upfront costs. There are the franchise fees, equipment costs, employee expenses and a lot more of an ongoing nature. Of course, there is the cost of marketing and advertising that must be done to draw in business and to grow the business. It’s the same for companies that are expanding by opening new locations and such. It’s no different for a small mom & pop type business and certainly a home based online business as well. These upfront expenses are inherent to every new business whether it is offline or online.

Like any other type of business, a home based online business shouldn’t jump on any and every advertising or marketing idea that comes along. No matter how great a marketing company might say there advertising solution may be. They may say it’s the best option out there and if you’ll just do this you can sit back and watch the money roll in. Don’t fall prey to such claims. Surely, there are solutions out there, but a home based online business owner must use the same discretion as his offline colleagues. Seek out and go for the most exposure at the most economical cost. Knowing also, that marketing or advertising can often take some time to reap a return.

Free advertising is the desire of every business whether the business is offline or online. And Businesses should seek out and take advantage of as many good free advertising opportunities as they can get their hands on. A good number of which I will direct you to in this article.

As a home based online business owner, you must know and understand that in order to grow your business, it will take some cash outlay in some form. Expect it. Know it. Believe it will. Then use your business acumen or draw on that of others to market effectively. Especially from those who have a vested interest in seeing you succeed like your upline in a Network Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing business. Business success groups, colleagues, partners, and other business people in general can be a source for you as well.

As for the free marketing and advertising avenue, click here to go to a special report written by a friend of mine Doug Gorman. Doug’s report on 150 free tools for your online business is a great resource to research and implement a number of free marketing ideas for your home based online home business. In fact, they are most specifically geared toward you the internet home business owner. Research and choose a method or two or three.

Just stop with the “I’m not going to spend a penny and this thing better work” attitude. If you do, you are immediately setting yourself up for frustration and failure when you decide it’s taking to long to get profitable. It’s going to cost something. Just be smart with your marketing dollars and let your business grow to the point where you reach break even and into that wonderful area of PROFIT!
